How do I use decodables in my classroom?

ReadWorks recommends establishing the Article-A-Day routine before including decodables in the classroom. For more information on how to establish the 10-minute Article-A-Day routine in your classroom, click here.

For the first 1-2 days at the start of the week, we recommend students listen to the Article-A-Day passages, either by listening to the audio available in their student account or listening to a read-aloud by their teacher. By the middle of the week, ReadWorks' recommends adding in decodable texts. Students should practice reading these decodable texts independently. There are 3 decodable texts available per week. By combining the AAD routine with decodables, students will build background knowledge and vocabulary.
